Hollywood Bowl 100: Record Box Set

In honor of the Hollywood Bowl’s Centennial Season, the LA Phil released a 7 record box set to celebrate 100 Years of Music at the Bowl.

Creative, outdoors, vibrant—the Hollywood Bowl is Los Angeles. On the occasion of the venue’s centennial, the LA Phil is delighted to present Hollywood Bowl: The First 100 Years of Music, a collection of 55 recordings on seven LPs, showcasing the wide range of musical styles at the heart of the Bowl’s remarkable first century: classical, pop/rock, jazz, film, and Broadway/American Songbook.

Spanning from 1928 to 2021, the vast majority of the collection’s tracks have rarely, if ever, been heard since their initial live performance. Each has the power to transport listeners to the intimate and incomparable experience of enjoying concerts under LA’s painted summer skies. Collectively, they evoke the Bowl’s signature strength: its ability to transcend boundaries of genre, geography, and generation.

The Hollywood Bowl is not simply a place for legendary artists to perform; it is a stage where legends are made. More than 70 musicians and musical ensembles are featured in this collection, many of them giving concerts they later deemed to be career-defining moments. From Audra McDonald to Ziggy Marley and nearly every type of musical artist in between, this collection of recordings brings the very best of the Bowl’s music and experience to brilliant life.

Produced in Poland in early 2022. Order online or pick one up at one of the LA Phil Stores.

In addition to the box set, I drew the custom ‘100’ mark that was used throughout the centennial campaign in print, digital, and social deliverables.
